@media screen and (max-width: 320px){ .inline-ad{margin: 0 -10px;} } 其中兩名「80後」（1980年代出生）教師格外引人關注，分別來自復旦大學馬克思主義學院的高級講師陳果，與南京航空航天大學馬克思主義學院副教授徐川。BBC中文網引述中國媒體報導，每到徐川的思想政治理論課，大教室的走道也「站無虛席」，甚至有別的學校學生旁聽。南航2018年1月還成立「思想政治教育研究中心」，聘請徐川為研究中心主任。陳果則被譽為「最有型的大學女教師」。公開資料顯示，她在2008年博士畢業後，便長期在復旦任教「思想道德修養與法律基礎課」課程。她上課的影片還在短影音平台抖音中廣為流傳。中國當局近年來不斷加緊對學校意識形態的管控，此次座談會顯然是最新的案例。倫敦大學亞非學院教授曾銳生認為，2019年正值五四運動100週年、八九民運30週年和中共建政70週年，對於習近平的領導是充滿挑戰的一年。「因此，習近平選擇在此時加強思想控制並不奇怪。特別是在兩會後，還有更好的時機嗎？」曾銳生認為：「在數位時代，中共領導層要想進行有效的思想控制，拉這些網路明星上船是很有效的方法。」中國政治學者、深圳大學特聘教授丁學良分析，北京選擇此時召開思想政治理論課教師座談會的另一原因是，雖然中國長期有系統性的思想教育體系，但效果並不盡如人意。丁學良認為，中國的思想政治課雖然有很長的歷史，但老師往往照本宣科，非常呆板，還有很多學生在課堂上問的政治問題，和教的內容差別太大。BBC中文網報導，中國「兩會」上的一份調研顯示，57.4%的青年學生認為思政課老師在馬克思主義傳播中的作用大。雖然勉強超過半數，但這樣的比例顯然對於中國思政課老師的工作是一個委婉的批評。
